Myofunctional therapy assists the goals of orthotropics by repatterning the functions of the muscles, including the tongue, lips, muscles of mastication, the breathing muscles, swallowing, and others to adapt to the new structure that orthotropics develops.  Also, the patient will be made aware of and eliminate habits that can cause the treatment to be much more difficult to attain. The collaboration of the two therapies will establish a stable result and help the patient to regain the proper oral functions that will prevail over a lifetime.
