Dr. Motegi received DDS and PhD from Tokyo Dental College. She was a Professor of Chiba Hospital of Tokyo Dental College. She retired and now she is a Visiting Professor and open an orthodontic clinic for children. Her interest is the best timing of orthodontic treatment for long term stability.
Timing of the functional problem approach
Abstract:
We have studied lip seal following Professor Mew’s suggestion. In consequence, though adult of poor lip seal was recognized exclusively among malocclusion, children’s poor lip seal was found not only malocclusion but also normal occlusion. This research was very impressive for us. After we performed clinical investigation, epidemiological survey, and longitudinal examination on children’s oral functional abnormality, based on these results, we considered and discussed the timing of approach on functional problem.
